After a fantastic twelve years in the Oakland’s Sunshine Biscuit factory complex we unfortunately have to relocate to a luckily(!)  fabulous new space in west Richmond..

We’ll really miss the classic industrial architecture of Sunshine and Oakland — but fighting the out of state multi-billion dollar new corporate owners of the Sunshine who are focused on cashing in Oakland’s residential real estate boom as opposed to serving businesses and organizations by converting the industrial spaces like ours to residential rentals (regardless of Oakland’s zoning) is beyond our means.

Thankfully the move brings us some great things as well — we’ll have our very own building, ceilings up to 26′, lots of power for filming, we’ll be ADA accessible, and  have a brand new dance floor which at 25′ x 35′ is more than double the size of our current floor.

As part of the move and expansion we’re also asking for your help in supporting the build-out of the new space and the modest priced rehearsal, resident artist and production space we offer. We have a fundraising goal of $10,000 for our Lay the Floor campaign to help cover the costs for the new floor, build-out and tech system. Our great news is that as of May 10th we are more than 50% of the way there, with almost a month left to go for our June 15th deadline.

You can support the new space by donating online via the secure PayPal link below, through our fiscal sponsor Dancer’s Group, through in-kind donations of materials and equipment, and by helping at our JUNE 12th-13th  “Lay the Floor” Weekend.
